Ex-Mobiles
Intrinsically safe mobile phones for hazardous zones
An intrinsically safe mobile phone lets a worker call, message, photograph and use field apps inside a hazardous area.
It is designed so that a fault, a drop or a flat battery cannot release enough energy to ignite gas or dust around it.
Realix Ex-mobiles are made for oil and gas crews first. They are also used in refineries, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, and fuel depots.

Choosing the right phone
- Zone 1 or Zone 2.
- Zone 1 needs a higher protection level than Zone 2. Check your area classification first.
- Gas group and temperature class.
- Hydrogen and acetylene (group IIC) need the strictest rating.
- Camera or no camera.
- Some sites ban cameras. Ask us which models suit a no-camera site.
- Accessories.
- Chargers and headsets must be used as the certificate allows.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between intrinsically safe and explosion-proof?
Intrinsically safe devices limit their own energy so they cannot ignite gas. Explosion-proof (flameproof) equipment contains an explosion inside a strong enclosure. Phones are made intrinsically safe.
Can I buy through GeM?
Yes. Realix is listed on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
Where can I see your certifications?
On our Certifications page. Datasheets are open to download from Resources without registering.
